Ludwigia Senegalensis Tissue Culture, also known as Ludwigia Guinea, is a freshwater plant species that belongs to the Onagraceae family. This plant is native to West Africa and is commonly found in marshes, swamps, and slow-moving streams.
This plant has slender, slightly curved green leaves that vary in length and typically grow up to 4-6 centimeters long. With optimal conditions, it has a moderate to fast growth rate and can reach a height of up to 30 centimeters.
Ludwigia Senegalensis is a versatile plant that can be grown both submerged and emerged, making it a popular choice for aquariums due to its attractive appearance and ease of care. The plant can be propagated by stem cuttings, which can then be replanted into the substrate.
To thrive in an aquarium, Ludwigia Senegalensis requires moderate to high lighting and nutrient-rich substrate. It is a relatively undemanding plant, but will benefit from the addition of CO2 and fertilizers. When grown emerged, it is recommended to keep the substrate moist to prevent the plant from drying out.
Interestingly, Ludwigia Senegalensis is often mistaken for another plant species, Ludwigia Glandulosa. While both plants have similar physical characteristics, they differ in their origin and natural habitat. Ludwigia Senegalensis is native to West Africa while Ludwigia Glandulosa is native to North America.
Overall, Ludwigia Senegalensis Tissue Culture, or Ludwigia Guinea, is a beautiful and easy-to-care-for plant that is a great addition to any freshwater aquarium.
