Echinodorus Muricatus is a classic sword plant that offers an attractive look in your planted aquarium. It’s a rare type of Radican Sword plant that is hardy and looks great in your fish tank. In the aquarium, this sword plant grows quickly and develops a huge, wide leaf rosette. It has longish-ovate to lanceolate submerged leaves that are medium green in color. They are slightly translucent and resemble the leaves of some Echinodorus uruguayensis variants. In most situations, the leaf stalks are much shorter than the leaf blade. This plant does well when grown emersed as well. Then it produces leaf rosettes that are wide and medium in size. It has oval leaves with an obtuse tip and around to slightly heart-shaped base that is submerged. On the upper side of the leaf, the leaf veins are a rather light color.
Echinodorus Muricatus is suitable for the Discus aquarium and many other fishes such as Angelfish, Cichlid, etc often lay eggs on the Amazon Sword leaf. Echinodorus Muricatus can grow to be quite large and tall, making it ideal for use in the foreground or center of a large aquarium. It’s an excellent choice for a big terrarium, paludariums, or large open aquariums.
